HP Integrity rx2800 i2 console access with iLo

Boy could I use some help.  We have an HP Integrity rx2800 i2 machine (running HP-UX).  We also have a T620 iLo.  It is my understanding that I can get console access to the Integrity through the iLo.  I have not been able to do this.  I'm thinking it has something to do with the configuration of the iLo. 

 

The iLo is connected to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse through a KVA.  I'm pretty sure I'm on the iLo.  I get a Thin Client screen which shows a few icons on it.  I double click the one that is labelled rx2800i2 and a terminal type screen shows up.  It seems to be label as TeemTalkCE.  I would expect this to be the console to the Integrity, however when I press the Enter key nothing happens.  I'm thinking I don't have the correct configuration for the serial connection from the iLo to the Integrity.  (There is a 9 pin cable running from the |o|o| connector on the back of the iLo to the |o|o| connector on the back of the Integrity.)  The bottom of the TeemTalk screen shows Online and VT100.  If I go to Settings -> Serial... in the drop down, I see it set up as 9600 baud, 8 Data Bits, No Parity, 1 Stop Bit, No Flow Control, and a Terminal Rate of 9600.  I'm guessing these settings are not correct, but I don't really know.

 

Can anyone help me get access to my console?  I would really appreciate it.

Access ILO from hpux

Today bad thing happen,i have disable dhcp access to ilo

I think before reset it will ask for ip static,but it reset immediately!

And now i cannot see any hw addr or ip of ilo,and i can't access it via

telnet or ssh,or http.

Is possible to direct access to hpilo on hpux?

For example,connect serial1 to my laptop,configure getty on hpux

press ctrl+b i will access to ilo prompt?

Any solution?

Slow response from one server

Dear All,

We have two new Rx2800 i4 Server with 2x4C 1.8 Ghz/64GB RAM server provisoned with HP-UX 11iv3 with MArch'15 patch bundles. Both need to be part of a Oracle Apps cluster and connected to EVA 4400. the Cluster used is VERITAS Cluster Server. So we put SFHA on both and put exact same patches. All Kernel prameters are also exactly same, we cross checked same. So while one server seems normal, another seems very sluggish. Starting ORacle DB service took almost 4-5 min and same with stop. We have try to check all hardware and logs but found nothing. Can someone help as to where to look for solution.

page-out while having lots of free memory, HP-UX 11.31

Hi experts,

we noticed this from OEM(Oracle Enterprise Manager) first. I also extracted MeasureWare data which has free memory and page-out data for one week.  You can see from 13:10 to 14:10 on Nov.15th, some consistent page-out happened while there were more than 25GB free memory (about 55% memory utilization).  Could you help explain why this happened and should this be a concern to us?

Help for setting hpilo serial

i want to configure hpilo serial.

Maybe someday i lost ip connection.

I have bought this cable

On laptop (linux) i see

Superdome 2 expansion options

We currently have a Superdome 2 server with 3 i2 blades configured in 1 partition. We need more processor power, so we are wondering about our options. Can we still purchase i2 blades or only i4? Can an i4 blade be configured into the same partition as existing i2 blades? Can i2 blades by upgraded with the new i4 processors? Can i2 blades be traded-in for i4 blades?

Secure Shell issue: Not sure if this is the right place for the question but here goes.

I installed an updated version of secure shell (SecureShell,r=A.06.20.030). The new version will not start up. I get Connection Refused when I try to login. Any suggestions?

System is HPUX rx 2620 running 11iv3.

HP integrity rx1620: updating the firmware

I will go to upgrade my HP server firmware, so I read the doc "rx16x0_9_5_install_manual.txt" to get info about that. Although my server is not a corporative server, I use it to my technical and profissional researchs, and the hypothesis to have troubles scare me.

 

My simple question is: what is the firmware version to consider at the momento of the upgrade?

 

We can read on the help doc inside the upgrade package:

 

"This system firmware update will be aborted if the current iLO MP firmware

revision present on the system is less than E.02.29. In order to upgrade

system firmware using this package, first upgrade the iLO MP firmware to

E.02.29. Please follow the upgrade requirements below:

1 - Upgrades to iLO MP firmware revision E.02.29 will require updating to

iLO MP firmware revision E.02.26 first.

2 - iLO MP firmware must be at or upgraded to revision E.02.29 prior to

upgrading to iLO MP revision E.03.30."

 

 

My MP "sysrev" output:

rx7640 - CELL_VRM_RAIL_FLT

Hi,

I have a rx7640 server with two cells and two nPars. One of the cell fails to power on with below error. in fact it powers on for few minutes and stops with this error message.

10459 PDHC 0,1   *3 648013c901e00027 00ffff01ff03ff43 CELL_VRM_RAIL_FLT

I can see below error in PS command

HW status for Cell 1 : FAILURE DETECTED

Power status : OFF, 1.2V FSB RAIL FAULT
Faults above are latched. They are cleared just before the cell is powered on.

Is it VRM fault or system board?

Rx standalone server to vPar migration

Hi,

We are planning to migrate standalone rx series server to migrate on vPar. The current Rx sereis server running Oracle Application.

Both source and target systems are HP-Ux 11i v3.

I just want to understand whether I can take advantage of Ignite facility or DRD is better / more feasible option to achieve this activity with much lower impact.

There is also underlying Storage Migrations planned within this same activity. My goal is to achieve this activity on OS level itself.

how to remove root password disabled function after 3 attempt in hp server rx6600

Currently my root ID is getting disabled, if i enter worng password 3 times.

can any setup be done, that root password never got disabled.

 


Platform info:

OS info:

Best raid option

My company has just purchased an HP Integrity rx2800 server which has (among other things) an HP Smart Array P410i controller with 8 300GB (HP 300GB 10K SAS SFF 6GB DP). The server will run OpenVMS and a somewhat light commercial application

Two of the disks have already been factory configured as RAID 1+0 with OpenVMS factory installed

I want to configure the remaining 6 disks.

The original thought was to create one raid array of 5 disks leaving 1 as spare.

Now considering a raid 5+0 using all 6 disks under 2 parity groups (in fact when I get into the configure menu, this is the default option it presents).

What is the most recommended option?

Neither performance nor available space is a big consideration as the application is light weight and does run adequately on a much smaller server

What I am trying get here is other users' confidence levels on the two options above and also factors like how crucial is to keep a spare disk, how easily can one be sourced if no spare disk etc.

Looking for FPSWA.EFI

Can anyone point me to the latest/last? version of FPSWA.EFI for download.  We used to ship an acient version of this file with our OS (VMS) but it was lost somewhere along the way.

This is the Itanium Floating Point Software Assist EFI driver.  I can't seem to locate it on HPE or Intel's sites.

server Integrity screen white and blue

hi

I am new in this job of managing servers, there is a server HP integrity rx2800 i4 that has installed an HP-UX operating system but when I turn only aparce hp screen in white and blue, do not let me make a boot.
I tried to connect via telnet and ssh with putty but not connect
Connect a serial cable to a lap top but does not identify
I could help please tell me how to boot

We have an old spare rx2620 Itanium server that is defective: 

it boots to a point (finds the OS and loads kernel etc.) but the system then always resets with:

HP rx2620 boot issue

Hello.

We have HP rx2620 server that is stuck on startup.
After some time, appears:
"BC was not started. BC was not started."

Is there any way to fix the issue?

We have already replaced button cell.
But it did not change anything.
